PET plastic Ice cream cups
92mm vs. 98mm PET Cups: Which Diameter is Right for You?
Choosing the right cup isn't just about volume; it's about the Rim Diameter. The two most common standards in the PET world are 92mm and 98mm. Understanding the difference is crucial for lid compatibility and regional preferences.

98mm (The Global Standard)
Pros: Most versatile. One lid fits 12oz, 16oz, 20oz, and 24oz cups.
Usage: Used by major chains like Starbucks and McDonald's. If you want ease of inventory, go with 98mm.
Aesthetic: A wider mouth makes it easier to add ice and whipped cream.
92mm (The Classic/APET Standard)
Pros: Often slightly cheaper due to less material use.
Usage: Common in older manufacturing molds or specific US regional markets.
Feel: A slightly slimmer profile which some customers with smaller hands prefer.
We manufacture both. However, for new businesses, we generally recommend the 98mm series for its universal lid compatibility and widespread industry adoption.
